Climate deniers, this one’s for you …

Hey, climate deniers. This one’s for you.

What you’ve pooh-poohed to the top of your hot air-filled lungs as false science and the liberal job-killing agenda is actually occurring – and it is highly likely to be irreversible.

Huge chunks of the West Antarctica ice sheet (for climate deniers, that’s close to the South Pole) are breaking off. (“Whew,” say relieved climate deniers. “At least Santa’s North Pole is safe.”) The view of others more noted for their brainpower is a bit more muted. “This is really happening,” NASA scientist Thomas Wagner told the left leaning (climate denier words, not mine) New York Times. “There’s nothing to stop it now. But you are limited by the physics of how fast the ice can flow.” (“See? It’s not all bad news,” say the climate deniers.) Yet there’s more realism as climate deniers retreat further into La La Land: the Times reports this is, according to NASA scientists, an “… unstoppable retreat of the ice sheet.”

Maybe climate deniers should have paid more attention to actual science in school. Then they could understand that the carbon based soot floating around (aka greenhouse gases) + the indifference of climate deniers = likely sea rise formulated by global overwarming. (Put differently, it equals climate Armageddon). Now might be a good time for climate deniers to sell their beach front property. (But astute climate deniers see a silver lining in the soot-laden clouds: Just think of the jobs! jobs! jobs! the watery rise will create for real estate agents, movers, basement pumping companies, and corporations that specialize in relocating entire metropolitan areas, etc.!)

The prediction here is that someday, and probably sooner than later, climate deniers (aka GOP lackeys) will move away from inane social issues to embrace the problem they helped to create or turned a blind eye to. Of course, by that time, Carl Rove – or the next iteration of Carl Rove – will concoct a scheme to adroitly shift the entire blame to prior administrations, the Chinese and other coal producers/burners or flatulent methane-producing livestock.

But they’d better hurry with their first draft. Times a wasting’.

My daily escapades are so infinitesimally minuscule related to the larger global picture. But they are related.

About Dave Bradley (264 Articles)
I was a writer by trade so one would think letters would come easily for me. It is so now, but wasn't always that way. Indeed, the first letter was written the Monday after Ellen started her freshman year in college. For years I've wondered - with no good answers - why I swiveled my office chair toward my computer screen to fire up a word processing document for that first letter. I just don't know. I just did. Perhaps it was the angst of separation or wanting to say things that had gone unsaid at that moment when we parted ways in front of her college dormitory. What was a one-off became habitual. When her brother Reid enrolled in the same college, his name was added to the salutation line. They were kids then and are adults now. No matter. The letter writing habit remains so today. I live in Brevard, North Carolina. I'm well away from where they live and don't see them nearly as often as I'd like. That's why letters, at least to me, fill the void of distance. The pages give me something to say and the space to say it. There is no assurance they read the letters; indeed, I have never asked if they do so. With the pace of their busy lives who could blame them for letting a letter sit unopened? Over time, it has dawned on me that the letters are both communicative - and cathartic. By nature, letters are about the writer; the writer can only write about their situation. Perhaps that is as it should be. It's all about the here and now from one person's perspective.
